PROSPECTOR PARK (PP) was first conceived in 2015 by founder Simon Atherton whom for several years prior to this date was fascinated by discoveries of meteorites via the tv show "Meteorite Men" produced in 2009-2012.

With the demise of this series and the introduction of many gold prospecting tv shows of the likes of AGH, Bering Sea Gold and Gold Rush... Simon proceeded with the dream of Prospector Park for consideration one day, to be a prospecting training & education experience and introduction of Resource Tourism outside the Perth CBD.

Simon has been a hospitality & tourism professional for over 30 years as a publican, tour guide, travel agent, ground operator and owner having Southern African Safaris this last 10 years as a high-end dedicated African safari specialist.

With the arrival of the pandemic came opportunities to capitalize on local tourism due to state border travel restrictions, we all wanted to get out & about and Perth Amateur Prospectors (PAP) was born in December 2020 encouraging further development of Prospector Park Gold Safaris coming live in Coolgardie 24th January 2024.

To date, PAP has hosted over 300+ amateur prospectors in the field with our 3- 5 day safari musters over many long weekends through the season plus numerous private adventures within Bullabulling, Coolgardie, Kununulling and Kalgoorlie.

Today, Perth Amateur Prospectors & Prospector Park is all about fun and making new friends & discoveries and perhaps discover your own piece of the allusive shiny!

Musters are group events of 20 like minded people having fun on some good geology and getting ones confidence up out in the field, learn applications and become a better prospector! One must be 100% remote fully self sufficient and have a detector.
